Effective November 8, 2026 · Version 2026-11-08
These terms are the rules for using the Catedral da Família app and website. Please read them. By creating an account, you agree to them.
Who we are
- The app is made for the church Catedral da Família, in Burlingame, California.
- The app is published by Leonardo Machado ("we"). The church decides what goes in it and who can see what.
- Questions? Write to catedraldafamilia@gmail.com.
Who can use it
- You must be 13 or older to have an account.
- Children under 13 do not get their own account. A parent or guardian adds them to the family in the app.
- If you are 13 to 17, a parent or guardian should know that you use the app and agree to these terms.
Your account
- Give true information about yourself.
- Keep your password and sign-in codes private. Do not share your account.
- Keep your Kids passcode secret. Anyone who knows it can collect your child. Change it at once if someone else may know it.
- If you sign in by text, you agree to receive one-time codes by SMS (US numbers only). Message and data rates may apply. We send no other texts.
- Tell the church at once if you think someone else used your account.
- You are responsible for what happens in your account.
- A guest account is a light account for paying for events: you see your tickets, receipts and account, and nothing else of the church. The same rules apply, and you must be 13 or older. You can become a member at any time; your tickets and receipts stay with you.
What you may not do
- Harass, threaten or hurt anyone.
- Post anything hateful, sexual, violent or otherwise objectionable, in a chat or anywhere else. It is not tolerated. Leaders review reports within 24 hours, remove what breaks these rules, and can close the account.
- Pretend to be someone else.
- Post photos or details of other people without their permission.
- Copy data out of the app in bulk, or use robots or scripts on it.
- Misuse the public forms (for example, send fake visitor forms or sign-ups).
- Try to get into parts of the app you are not allowed to see.
- Break the law or the church's rules.
What you post
- What you post (for example, a profile photo, an answer to a form or a message in the chat of an escala, a ministry's service date) stays yours.
- Messages in an escala chat are read by the people serving in that escala, its ministry leaders and the Lead Pastors. You can edit or delete your own; leaders can delete any; anyone can report one. A report goes to the ministry's leaders and the Lead Pastors, never to the person reported; a report about a Lead Pastor goes only to the other Lead Pastors.
- You can hide a person's messages in the escala chats just for you (they are not told); you can still report them.
- Songs and YouTube links you add to an escala are seen by everyone on it. Only add links you are allowed to share. A YouTube link opens on YouTube, under YouTube's own terms.
- You let the church and us store and show it, only to run the app for the church.
- The church may remove anything that breaks these rules.
Serving
- When you accept an escala, you commit to it: only a leader can remove or replace you.
Paid events
- When you pay for an event, you buy it from the church, not from us.
- Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or keep your card number.
- Refunds follow the church's Refund Policy: no refunds, including when you cancel your own sign-up, except when the church cancels the event date. Then you get a full refund automatically. The Refund Policy has the details (in the app: Me, then About and legal).
Kids check-in and safety
- Kids check-in is a tool to help the church's volunteers. It does not guarantee a child's safety.
- The app is not for emergencies. In an emergency, call 911.
The app is offered "as is"
- We work hard to keep the app working and safe, but we cannot promise it will always work or have no mistakes.
- As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect losses. Our total responsibility to you is limited to $100.
- You agree to cover our costs if a claim against us comes from your own misuse of the app.
- Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have by law that cannot be waived.
Changes to these terms
- We may change these terms. When we do, the app shows the new version and asks you to accept it before you go on.
- If you do not accept, you can still download your data and delete your account.
Ending your account
- You can delete your account at any time: Me, then Account, then Delete account. You can also read how on our website, without signing in.
- The church may close an account that breaks these rules.
Removing what you posted (under 18)
- If you are under 18, you can remove things you posted, or ask us to remove them. Write to catedraldafamilia@gmail.com.
Apple
- If you got the app from the App Store, Apple is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for the app or its support. Apple's standard license (EULA) also applies.
The law
- California law applies. Any dispute goes to the courts of San Mateo County, California.
